• mct homepage • about mct • using the bus • volunteering • MiDAS • links • contact us	About Mearns Community Transport Mearns Community Transport is located in the north east of Scotland and serves the people of the Mearns area, that part of Aberdeenshire at the foot of the Grampian mountains around the town of Laurencekirk. With one small town, several small villages and many dispersed cottages and farms, transport difficulties have long been seen as a major issue in the area. In an effort to address this, the Mearns Area Project applied for funding from the Scottish Rural Community Transport Initiative to assist with the purchase of a community minibus, and the establishment of Mearns Community Transport (MCT). The aim of MCT is to reduce the impact of rural remoteness and isolation in the Mearns area by enabling community groups and organisations to undertake social and educational activities using community transport. In this way it is hoped that diverse and sustainable communities can be built.
