Using Mearns Community Transport

The community bus is available for hire by any recognized community group, organization or educational establishment.

The charge for use of the minibus is 60p per mile. If the journey is over 100 miles the charges are 60p per mile for the first 100 miles then 50p per mile for all subsequent miles. The charges include fuel and there are no other charges and no minimum charges.

It has seats for 15 passengers and is equipped with a tail lift. Most of the seats can be moved or removed to facilitate a wide combination of uses including the transport of several wheelchair using passengers. Appropriate wheelchair restraints and adjustable safety belts for all passengers are available on board. Please feel free to contact MCT if you have particular requirements and would like to discuss options.

Most user groups supply their own driver but Mearns Community Transport also has a small pool of volunteer drivers who may be available for those groups without their own. Please note that drivers must have passed the Aberdeenshire Council minibus test before they can drive this vehicle.

The bus is kept in the compound behind the Tower Restaurant located just across the road from Mearns Academy in the Laurencekirk Business Park. A map of where the bus is parked can be found here.
